On the Exterior Mixed Problem in Plane Elasticity
Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T6G 2G8 The real boundary integral equation method is used to solve the exterior mixed problem of plane strain. The classical approach, used by Kupradze to solve the corresponding interior problem, fails on account of the divergence of the related fundamental solutions at infinity. This difficulty is overcome using certain modifications that allow the solution to be sought in a special class of matrix functions allowing for the possibility of divergence at infinity.
